Margherita
It is believed that the Margherita pizza was named after Queen Margherita of Savoy back in 1889. After the Queen requested the most famous pizza-maker in Naples to create three different pizzas, she chose the third pizza as her favourite.
The pizza she chose contained tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and a touch of basil herb. Immediately after this, the pizza was named the Margherita in her honour, and the pizza maker gained a Royal Seal for his service.
Our Mmm… Margherita pizza is inspired by this illustrious pizza creation, and it remains one of the most popular choices among vegans and non-vegans alike!
